Meet Marie Abanga

Barrister Marie Angele Abanga Co-Founder and CEO

Marie Abanga was born on the 18th of January 1979 in Douala the economic capital of Cameroon. Marie has had a teeming childhood and exciting adulthood filled with some daunting challenges and multiple opportunities, which have all made and marked her in several positive ways. She has written 4 personal memoirs and a collection of her most contemplative poems have been published to date.
Marie Abanga is today a lawyer holding an LL.M in international Law with International Relations, a consultant with both national and international institutions, a prince 2 certified project manager, an advocate for women’s rights and mental health, an author, a multiple award winning blogger, a transformational, motivational and inspirational speaker and life coach, a trainer and above all the dynamic single mother of three boys whom she fondly calls her musketeers.
Marie has held various professional and volunteer roles that require detail oriented, time sensitive actions and interactions with global leaders. Marie has worked with the United Nations, the International Criminal Court, The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, Plan International, MTN Cameroon, several law firms and Multinational clients, the Pan African Institute for Development West Africa among others.
Marie has always been an active person from childhood where she was the go to person in her family for various errands and issues requiring some tact, diplomacy and that how to navigate different individuals with their various personalities. One of her tasks then was taking care of the family ‘pharmacy’, administering medication to all the sick members of the family and she even took delight in following up on the wellbeing of even sick neighbours. She was and still is the most out spoken and out going sibling, more of the mediator than otherwise.
Marie has followed through with her pleasant and magnetic personality, and together with her other soft skills she has been able to handle various assignments for her bosses and clients more often than not leading to a win-win situation. While pursuing her Masters degree in Brussels, Marie seized advantage of the European capital to dare to apply for jobs with the ‘big’ institutions. Her first student support job was with the International Consultancy ICF/JHK and then she landed an internship with the European Parliament before moving on six months later as the Regional Manager Africa for what is today known as the Women Political Leaders Forum. In this capacity, Marie prides herself with successfully contributing to the facilitation of the participation of dignataries like President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma of the African Union, Joyce Banda of Malawi and Portia Simpson Miller Prime Minister of Jamaica.
Learning, working and interacting in all these multi cultural and multidisciplinary institutions both in Cameroon and abroad in countries ranging from Tanzania, through Ivory Coast to Belgium and Spain to name these few, has given Marie so much experience in life in both the personal and professional landscape.
Marie is a sought after contributor on several blogs and magazines, and had delivered keynote addresses at different socio-cultural events in US, Belgium, Germany and Cameroon. Marie started coaching while in Belgium, moved by her own experience with a life coach and discovering that being a coach aligned with her vision of helping people bring out the best in themselves by taking positive actions no matter their present circumstance.
To champion the different causes close to her heart, Marie has written and published articles, participated in different workshops, webinars and international forums, and been a guest on various platforms including local radio and television in Brussels and Cameroon.
